NJJLL PLAYOFF RULES

All programs must be members in good standing with the NJJLL.  Furthermore, all players & coaches must have current memberships with US lacrosse.

All games against programs in your group must be played and reported to the NJJLL by Sunday May-09, after which playoff seedings will be determined and posted on the NJJLL website.   You cannot qualify for the playoffs if you have not played ALL teams in your designated group.

For programs that play each other twice during the season, only the first meeting shall count towards the In-Group standings.

Games will be governed by US lacrosse and NJJLL game rules.  Any game that is cut short for any reason (darkness, weather, etc.) where at least half the game has been played, is considered a completed game and the result at the time it was called shall be the final score.   For games where less than a half has been played, the game shall be replayed from the start.

At the conclusion of pool (group) play, the first place team in each group will qualify for the playoffs.

For programs that field two 8th grade teams, rosters must be totally separate players.   No player is permitted to play on both teams.  Violation of this rule will result in that game being forfeited.  In addition, programs that "platoon" their players (i.e. - rotate 3 squads of 10) may only enter 1 team into the playoff system.

A score of "1 - 0" will be applied for any forfeited game.   Results of Forfeited Games will not be included in the Average Goals Against or Average Goal Differential calculations.

The quarterfinals and semifinals game will be played at the HIGHER seed’s field, at a mutually agreed upon time.  In the event the HIGHER seeded program cannot secure a field on that date, the game can be played at the LOWER seed’s field.  The field should be in good shape and should have lights for later starting games.

Quarterfinal games MUST be completed by the Tuesday PRIOR to Memorial Day Weekend (May-21)

Semifinal games MUST be completed by the Wednesday following Memorial Day Weekend (May-29)

The Finals will be played on the Saturday following Memorial Day Weekend (Jun-01) at Camp Dawson in Montville.  TENTATIVE game times are 5:00 PM and 6:30 PM (subject to change).  Sunday Jun-02 is the rain date for the Finals in the event the games cannot be played on Saturday.  The NJJLL will cover the cost of officials for the Championship Finals only.

The NJJLL will assign officials for ALL playoff games.   There will be 2 officials at each game.  The host team (for quarter and semifinals) will coordinate with the NJJLL.   The NJJLL will cover the cost of officials for the Championship Finals only.

Programs that qualify for the playoffs but are NOT available to play on June 5th or 6th for any reason, should notify the NJJLL Board and withdraw from the tournament PRIOR to seeding and the start of the knockout round.
